One of the most important aspects of auto maintenance is making sure fluid levels remain normal. Your vehicle uses several different fluids that play integral roles in preventing everything from overheating to fuel system damages. Below, learn more about four essential auto fluids and how often you need an auto parts store to replace them.

4 Essential Auto Fluids

1. Motor Oil

Motor oil lubricates the engine’s metal components, preventing them from grinding together and corroding. You should change your oil every three months or 3,000 miles. Check your oil by removing the dipstick and looking at the end of it. If it’s dirty or below the full mark, have an auto parts center replace the oil.

2. Transmission Fluid

Transmission fluid keeps the components within this system lubricated so that it can supply the appropriate amount of power to the wheels. Check your transmission fluid by removing the dipstick. If the fluid is not pinkish-red and above the full line, have it replaced as soon as possible.

3. Radiator Fluid

4. Brake Fluid

Brake fluid ensures that your braking system works properly, permitting you to decelerate and come to a complete stop. To check your brake fluid, open the cap near the rear of your engine. If it’s not at least one-half inch from the top, pour more fluid into the reservoir.
