Denali, North America's tallest mountain, is at the heart of Denali National Park and Preserve in Alaska. Aside from this majestic peak, the park's many outdoor activities and attractions have led to a boom in the area’s tourism activity. For hikers and mountaineers, below are a few trails to satisfy your adventurous spirit.

What Trails Should You Hike in Denali National Park?

1. Mount Healy Overlook Trail

This 5.4-mile trail, which is also one of the steepest in the park, ends halfway up Mount Healy. It offers panoramic views to hikers who brave the two-hour uphill climb and the 1,700-ft elevation gain. This tourism feature rewards visitors with stunning views of the Healy Ridge, Nenana River Valley, and gorgeous alpine ridges.

2. Horseshoe Lake Trail

tourismHorseshoe Lake Trail has made the park a popular tourism spot for guests looking for a more leisurely hike. This 2.3-mile path only has a 200-ft elevation gain and leads around Horseshoe Lake. Tourists are likely to spot moose and beavers on their way to the Overlook. Hikers can enjoy breathtaking views of surrounding mountains, the Nenana River, and the "Glitter Gulch" development.

3. Savage River Loop Trail

The Savage River Loop lets parents combine fun and education for their kids. To begin the 2-mile tundra walk, tourists need to enter the wilderness of Denali National Park. The relatively flat terrain is manageable for most kids, and trekkers can spot marmots, sheep, arctic ground squirrels, and caribou during the 90- to 120-minute trip. Guests also enjoy a leisurely hike on both sides of the Savage River after crossing a bridge about 1.5 miles downstream.
