MR. CORLETTA GETS OUTRIGHT ACQUITTAL IN SERIOUS SEX ABUSE CASE.

In a tragic situation involving a matrimonial, where the client’s 2 daughters accused the client of sexual abuse, progressing to the point of a criminal Indictment, Mr. Corletta, after a protracted legal battle, which included subpoenaing mental health records for both children, and using them at trial, scored an outright acquittal by repeatedly impeaching their credibility in People v.  Anonymous (Monroe County Court, 10/19).

In this tragic situation, which was brought in conjunction with a matrimonial action, Mr. Corletta thoroughly impeached the 2 children, and demonstrated the bias and motivation behind their accusations, and that they were motivated by their estranged parent, who desired a divorce and financial support from the client.

As Mr. Corletta was also handling the matrimonial and related financial matters, these unwarranted accusations not only resulted in destruction of a long-term marriage and family relationship, but also in complete destruction of the family’s already tenuous financial structure.

The case demonstrated the harmful nature of accusing a parent of sexual abuse in order to obtain an advantage in a civil case. Although Mr. Corletta won this case, exonerated his client, and saved his client a violent felony conviction and certain state prison sentence, nobody won here.
