It's not surprising that most people toss out food before a big move. After witnessing plenty of people do just that, the staff at M. Dyer & Sons in Pearl City had a great idea. Why not give people the option to donate those unwanted canned goods? Thanks to the company's food donation program, clients feel good about the fact that their unwanted food won’t go to waste, and the needy throughout the Hawaiian Islands benefit from that generosity. The movers collect food from clients and also offer a drop-off spot for canned foods at their Honolulu facility.

The company is an active participant in Move for Hunger, a non-profit organization that encourages professional movers to collect food items and deliver them to food banks. All of the canned goods M. Dyer & Sons collects are taken to the Hawaii Food Bank, which distributes the food to people in need through 200 charitable agencies. The company recently donated 82 pounds of food to the food bank. That’s enough food to provide 68 meals for those in need!

Supporting the people in their local community is just as important to the staff at M. Dyer & Sons as being the best moving company in Hawaii. The company is committed to ending hunger in Hawaii with ongoing food donations. And for those looking for more ways to help, keep in mind that World Food Day is October 16.
