Among collector cars, Corvettes hold a particularly beloved place. Since the model’s debut in 1953, Chevrolet®’s classy, streamlined designs have been the star of auto shows across the country. Some model years are even more spectacular than the rest, and these five are among the most sought-after.

Which Corvettes Are Most Loved by Collectors?

1. 1955

Produced just two years after the Corvette rolled onto the scene, the 1955 model doesn't look distinct from the previous two years. However, it was the first model to use a V8 engine. The improved performance kept the Corvette on the stage and in competition with other sports cars.

2. 1963 Coupe

collector carThis model wins the Corvette beauty pageant hands down. Its sharp, tapered shapes and distinctive split window conceal the most powerful engine in its class released that year. It also boasted innovations in suspension and handling for a smooth, responsive ride.

3. 1967 L88

Only 20 of this model were ever produced, making it a prized collector car. It was built for aggressive acceleration on the racetrack with a startlingly powerful engine. One quirk of the model is that it has no heater or defroster—it was made for aggressive performance, not comfort.

4. 1970 LT-1

This Corvette was produced at a time when concern about emissions and fuel economy was rising, so it doesn't have the roaring power of earlier models. But its trim design and excellent balance ensured it kept the Corvette's signature speed even with a downsized engine block. The sleek design and improved gas mileage make it a favorite.

5. 1990 ZR-1

While you can find higher-performing Corvettes today, the ZR-1 offered the best performance in its range at the time. It went from 0 to 60 in 4.9 seconds and 60 to 100 in 4.8, stats that made it far more popular than the preceding C3s and earn it a place among collector cars now. The classic ‘80s styling is also distinctive.
