As an avid car collector or restorer, you may spend a lot of time holed up in the garage, tinkering with and caring for your vehicle. Once you’ve finished and are in love with the results, it's time to share your beauty with other enthusiasts. If this is your first time participating in a car show, here are some tips to help the event be as successful as possible.

3 Steps to Prepare for a Vintage Car Show

1. Assemble the Documentation

Make sure you have all your paperwork handy. For instance, you'll need the receipt that shows you've submitted your entry fee. Depending on the show, you may also need the vehicle title, registration, and proof of insurance. As the event nears, you may be asked to submit one or more photos of the car. You should have several shots from various angles in case it’s necessary.

2. Give the Car a Once-Over

Always use products designed for the purpose—don't try to use dish soap to tackle the upholstery or oven cleaner to scrub the engine. When preparing for a car show, it's no time to start scrimping on cleaning products.

3. Remember Convenience Items

You’ll be spending the whole day—or multiple days—outdoors, so it's important you bring items that will make your time more comfortable and enjoyable. Wear a hat and sunglasses, bring sunblock, and remember camp chairs for yourself and anyone joining you. Fill up your cooler with ice, cold drinks, and snacks. You may even want to bring a camp stove if you intend to brew coffee or tea or heat up dinner.
