According to the Farmers Almanac the Western New York region is in for rough winter

"With colder-than-normal temperatures in the Northeast and above-normal precipitation expected, our outlook forewarns of not only a good amount of snow, but also a wintry mix of rain and sleet—especially along the Great Lakes."

There are predictions for high winds and expect above average precipitation especially in mid to late January.

There could be a significant shot of chilly air that comes across the Great Lakes Region and into the interior Northeast sometimes in late December to late January.
