On October 7th, Apple® released the new Mac OS® operating system software: macOS 10.15 Catalina. The new operating system is available through the Mac® App Store for most devices that could use the previous Mojave OS®, including the 12-inch MacBook® laptop and the iMac Pro®; the 2012 and later versions of the MacBook Air®, MacBook Pro®, iMac®, and Mac mini® computers; and Mac Pro® laptops from 2013 and onward. This OS boasts higher performance, an easier user interface, and several new apps and features.

Second Screen

MacbookThe new OS gives you the ability to interface with your iPad® device. If you have an iPad, macOS Catalina allows you to use it as a second screen for your MacBook computer. This feature is called Sidecar® and offers a range of configuration options so you can choose the setup that works for your needs.

New Apps

The integration with iPad devices goes even deeper. The biggest innovation included in this operating system is support for iPad apps on your MacBook. Both Apple and third-party apps are supported, so you can install all your favorites to use anywhere. Also, macOS Catalina has several new media apps to replace iTunes®, and a Find My app that combines features from Find My Phone® and Find My Friends®.

Voice Control

If you enjoy using Apple's Siri® voice recognition software for hands-free functionality, macOS Catalina will excite you. The newest accessibility feature that's been added is voice control for your device. Using on-device processing, this navigation feature provides a more powerful user experience than ever.
