You can start with simple songs like “One, Two Buckle My Shoe” to teach counting. Once your child grasps that, you can move on to songs that focus on addition and subtraction. 

2. Tap Into Kids’ Inquisitive Nature

From why the sky is blue to how grass grows, kids ask all sorts of questions that involve science. You can get out the crayons and markers and have your little one help create diagrams explaining the concepts. You can revisit each diagram later to reinforce what’s learned. 

3. Play Word Games

As children age, they gradually build their phonemic awareness. This means they can manipulate the different sounds heard and turn them into words. You can create or buy word games that use phonemic awareness to introduce kids to reading. For example, make flashcards with a different picture of a farm animal on each. The name of the animal should be written underneath. Your little one can sound out the word and see the letters to make the connection with the image.
