When you get in a collision or break down on the side of the road, a tow truck is your best solution. For your convenience, many body shops have a tow truck driver on staff to bring your vehicle in for work. Before you call and order your tow, however, ask some simple questions to make sure they’re the right fit for your vehicle.

What to Ask the Body Shop Before Requesting a Tow

How much will it cost?

A reputable company will tell you how much they charge for their services. This will depend on your vehicle type, how many miles they must tow it, and other factors. Some body shops may provide a discount or credit for towing if you use their collision repair services.

Are they equipped to handle your vehicle?

kalispell body shopEvery tow is different, and some trucks aren’t equipped to handle certain situations. You may need to ask about this if you drive a vehicle such as an SUV since trucks or larger often require a special type of tow truck.

Be sure to also tell them if your vehicle will require special recovery, such as if it’s been flipped over or driven off the road.

What are their qualifications?

The company should have a license to operate their business in the area you’re in. They should be bonded and insured with well-trained drivers. An experienced staff will handle your vehicle with the care it deserves.

When will they arrive?

How quickly they can arrive will depend on how busy they are, how far away you are, and the current driving conditions. They should be able to give you an estimate, however, and provide updates if that changes. If they aren’t willing to provide that information, find a company that will.
