From the stress and sleep deprivation to the dry cabin air, flying over the holidays can wreak havoc on your skin. The issues don't stop when the plane touches down. Depending on your destination, your skin may have to contend with cold weather, alcohol, and lots of indulgent treats during the trip as well. Fortunately, with the right skin care routine, you can maintain a fresh face the entire time.

How to Take Care of Your Skin While Traveling Over the Holidays

1. Stay Hydrated

Applying moisturizer morning and night will protect your skin from the harsh winter air, while drinking water all day will nourish it from within. Invest in a reusable water bottle that you can take on all your holiday excursions, and buy a travel-sized container of moisturizer to keep in your carry-on luggage.

2. Take Lukewarm Showers

If you’re traveling to a cold destination, you may feel tempted to take hot showers. But if the water’s too hot, it will dry out your skin, which can cause redness, itching, and even peeling. To avoid stripping your skin of the oils it needs to stay balanced, take lukewarm showers instead, and apply a moisturizer after you finish.

3. Apply Sunscreen

Exposed skin may be more vulnerable to burning during such activities because the sun reflects off the snow, which essentially doubles the dose of UV radiation.
