As the temperatures begin to drop, say goodbye to long days on the water and prepare your boat for a season of hibernation. However, this isn’t as simple as moving it into storage—you must also ensure the inner workings of your boat and engine are ready for the seasonal changes. Use the following steps to get started.

Steps To Prepare You Boat For Winter

1. It is a good idea to thoroughly clean the inside of your boat before putting it up for the winter. There is nothing worse than finding out you left some food or bait in a compartment and finding out in the spring that the local critter population did the cleaning for you.

2. Another good tip is making sure you have taken out any wet towels or clothing. These items can produce some serious mold issues over the winter months.

3. Checking your cover for any deficiencies before putting it up for the winter will help ensure your boat is high and dry during winter storage. We also offer a shrink-wrap package if you would like to be sure it stays dry.

4. Winterization is also a good time to change oil, lower unit gear lube, as well as any fuel filters your engine’s system may have in place.

These are just a few of the many things that you can do to help ensure you have a great boating experience when it is time to head out in the spring.
