The holiday season is the time to reach out to past customers and clients and thank them for their business. A well-designed and thoughtful business holiday card will tell patrons how much they’re valued. It also helps put you in their mind for the next time they require the services or products you offer. Follow these do’s and don’ts when consulting your printing service to ensure your card design is the right mixture of holiday spirit, branding, and thankfulness.

Do:

Go physical.

Digital marketing is beneficial for most other times of the year, but during the holidays, it’s good to get a little more personal. A physical holiday card is much less likely to be ignored or immediately tossed in the garbage. You might even make it into your customers’ holiday card display with the ones they receive from friends and family.

Be consistent with fonts and colors.

As a professional business, you likely already have a dedicated font and color scheme for your name and logo. When incorporating these details into your holiday card, you can use complementary fonts and colors that help convey your message.

However, avoid adding too many extras that could make your card look cluttered. For the best results, use a maximum of three fonts, and stick to colors that make your logo pop, which don’t necessarily have to be the traditional red and green associated with the season.

Don’t:printing service

Choose a flimsy paper.

Have you ever received a floppy holiday card? Hopefully not. These cards should be able to stand up on their own and withstand a fall from the refrigerator. Achieve this goal by selecting a thicker paper from your printing service, especially if you aren’t using an envelope so the card doesn’t bend during the mail delivery.

Pitch your product.

The purpose of sending a holiday business card is to sincerely thank your customers for their patronage and promote a continued relationship in the New Year. Throwing in a sales pitch about a new product launch or upcoming holiday sales could negate this message. Even offering a discount might come across as just wanting them to spend more money with you. Save these messages for your monthly newsletter.
