Turnkey LED partnered with this carwash in Littleton Colorado to upgrade the metal halide high bay lights and exterior wall packs at his carwash to energy saving LED’s.  The owner was concerned that his traditional lighting was possibly driving customers away due to dimness and shadowing.  Beyond that he had to replace bulbs and ballast regularly and his customers couldn’t adequately see if they were getting their vehicles completely clean.  To add insult to injury, the old lighting fixtures were attracting birds, as they provided large and warm platforms for them to nest on, bringing with them the unwanted mess associated with nesting birds.  The business owner decided to contact Turnkey LED to see what his upgrade options were.

Turnkey sat down with the owner and discussed concerns about the lighting including budget and return on investment as the owner had several projects in mind for the carwash but wanted to start with the projects that made the most financial sense.  Turnkey LED put together a proposal that showed the customer what his current lighting usage was and found an LED solution that fit within the budget and mapped out how long it would take for the customer to pay off the upgrade.  TLED calculated that the customer was spending over $18/month/ light and the LED equivalent would cost $4/month/light.  When we showed the customer that the LED upgrade would result in at 77% energy savings and create a better lit environment, he was cautiously optimistic but decided to move forward with the upgrade.

Turnkey LED worked with the business owner’s schedule and completed the upgrade in one day when the project would have minimal impact on the carwash business.  Turnkey handled all the Xcel Energy rebate paperwork for the customer and hauled off and recycled all the old equipment. 

As part of the 90 day follow up with the carwash owner, he stated that he loves his new lights because they create a much safer and welcoming environment.  He said the energy savings were absolutely real and better yet, the birds have moved on because the sleek and cool design of the LED fixtures took away the opportunity to nest above customers clean cars!  

This customer has already referred Turnkey LED to his friends and is using Turnkey LED to add additional LED lights to his carwash for his next round of upgrades.  We believe that referral and repeat customer are the best compliment that a customer can give and we really enjoy creating long lasting relationships with our customers!
