Soccer is one of the most popular sports across the globe, and it’s quickly gaining more traction here in the United States. Now, more enthusiastic athletes are looking for ways to elevate their game. Luckily, with the right sports equipment, there are a number of ways you can hone your skills at home by yourself.

Footwork

Sports EquipmentThere are many drills you can do while only needing basic sports equipment such as the ball, a pair of cleats, and some cones. For closed-space dribbling, set up three cones in a triangle about two feet apart, maneuver the ball within the triangle using all surfaces of your feet.

“Doggies” are another drill that helps you with ball control and conditioning. Place five cones five yards apart in a straight line, then dribble the ball to the first cone and do a controlled turn to sprint back to the starting point. Then, run to the second one and back, and repeat the process until you’ve reached all five cones.

Accuracy

Draw a target on a wall using chalk to practice shooting. If you have a net at home, practice your free kicks, aiming for those specific spots while bending the ball. Also, try precision shots while on the move to simulate the in-game experience.

For a passing drill, use the mark on the wall as the receiving point. Then, stand a few feet away from there. Using the inside of your foot, forcefully kick the ball into the square and control the return. Do this several times before switching feet.
