When people talk about dementia, they tend to have symptoms like memory loss in mind. However, there are many different forms of this condition that can affect a person, each of which includes certain unique symptoms. Depending on the severity of their condition, dementia care may be needed to help your loved one cope.

What Are Different Types of Dementia & Their Effects?

1. Alzheimer’s

Alzheimer’s is most easily identified by the memory lapses it causes. In later stages, a person may completely lose the ability to talk with others or even take care of themselves. It can also cause changes in one’s mood and behavior over time.

2. Vascular Dementia

Vascular dementia results from damage to the brain, and can even be caused by a stroke in some cases. Along with classic dementia symptoms, people with this illness also experience restlessness, problems with decision-making, and lack of organized thinking. Hallucinations are also possible.

4. Huntington's Disease
