What is your most memorable NYC moment?
Growing up in the south, I often dreamed of living, working, and raising a family in New York City. The iconic images and films I saw featuring this amazing city inspired me to move here. It was several years after moving to New York that I took a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. It was a late spring afternoon after a great lunch with a group of friends that we all decided to take in the sunset from the Bridge. Upon reaching the Brooklyn side, I turned to look at the New York City skyline with its incredible structures and breathtaking vistas. It was at that moment that my appreciation for the city came full circle. The realization that this was my home was an indescribable feeling, but one that was undeniably perfect.
What is your favorite Manhattan neighborhood? Why?
New York City has so many wonderful neighborhoods, each with its own unique personality and vibe. I currently live in Harlem, and love its rich history, the great new restaurants, the historic churches, and amazing architecture. Developers have rediscovered the neighborhood's beauty and there are currently many new development projects underway. I enjoy and take great pride in the changes taking place in and around the neighborhoods of Harlem. These changes speak volumes about the value and desirability of yet another one of this City’s magnificent gems.
Why did you choose to pursue a career as a New York real estate professional? What is your favorite part of the job?
I worked as a marketing and communications executive developing campaigns for some of the world's top brands in entertainment, fashion, technology and real estate for many years. During that time, I developed a deep appreciation for the real estate industry and leading developers with whom I worked such as the Zabeel, a Dubai-based real estate developer, The Related Companies, and Madison Equities. My appreciation stretched into a deep understanding of what these companies do and provide for people around the world. Developing and communicating a lifestyle product was the perfect segue for me to bring my love of art, architecture, design, marketing and people together to build a career in real estate sales. My favorite part of the job is building a relationship with my clients. Understanding their goals and developing a plan of action to help them to realize those same goals is a fundamental process in any agent’s success – I live for this process.
What is your greatest motivator?
What motivates me most is the satisfaction of knowing that my clients-- buy side or sell side—feel their needs were attended to with their overall satisfaction in mind. This gives me a strong sense of accomplishment.
If you could invite anyone to a dinner party, whom would you invite?
Without a doubt, the renowned architect, Zaha Hadid. I would love to sit with her and discuss what inspires her process, as well as the many new projects she has currently in development, including the new High Line condo development in New York City. Presently, I have her various iconic designs as my computer screen saver. It would definitely be a long and enjoyable dinner.
If you had only one day left in NYC, how would you spend it?
I would stop in for a bite to eat at some of my favorite NYC restaurants: Settepani, Cafeteria, Delicatessen, Asiate, Robert, A Voce, Barawine, Nobu and Red Rooster with selected close friends. There would be lots of wine and champagne consumed along with the delicious food that these places provide.
