October is Fall Car Care Month, and there’s no better time than now to make sure your vehicle is prepared for colder weather. The organizers of CharlotteAutoFair, produced by Hornets Nest Region, AACA in Charlotte, NC encourage you to use the following checklist this fall:

  • Tires: Check your tires for pressure and tread depth. Uneven wear is an indicator your car needs an alignment. Tires with a low tread can’t easily grip slick roads in winter.
  • Battery: Are your battery connections tight, clean, and corrosion-free? Many auto stores offer free battery testing to make sure it doesn’t need to be replaced soon.
  • Brakes: Fall is an ideal time to have a mechanic inspect your brake system, including the rotors, drums, and linings.
  • Heating System: Defrosting is important in colder months; it is essential to test your car’s HVAC system and replace air filters.
  • Wiper Blades: To prepare for freezing rain and snow, cracked, old windshield wipers need to be replaced in order to avoid accidents.

If your car is well maintained, or if you simply love vintage auto shows, Charlotte AutoFair is worth a trip. The event happens twice a year, each April and September, on the grounds of the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Car collectors and vendors present antique cars in a vintage car show; more than 10,000 vehicles are put on display.

Whether you are a buyer or a seller of collector cars, Charlotte AutoFair is one of the region’s largest automobile shows.
