Eyeglasses may help you see the world clearly, but when they're constantly sliding down your nose, they can quickly become more annoying than beneficial. You can avoid adjusting your specs every few minutes by selecting the right frames and having them fitted by your optometrist. However, if you can't get in for an adjustment right away, you can try a few tricks to keep your glasses from slipping.

How to Fix Eyeglasses That Fall Down

1. Adjust the Nose Pads

Nose pads can stretch out or get old, causing your glasses to slide. Adjusting or replacing the pads will make the frames more secure. If the nose pads are mounted on a thin piece of metal, you should be able to adjust them by gently squeezing them together with your thumb and forefinger.

If they're not adjustable, find replacement nose pads online or at your optometrist's office. Use the small screwdriver from an eyeglass repair kit to remove the old nose pads and attach new, tighter ones.

2. Add Grips Behind Your Ears

Although you can add rubber grip strips or hooks to your frames, hair elastics provide a quick fix. Choose small elastics that match your frame or hair color, and wrap them around the arms several times to increase their grip strength.

3. Keep Your Face Oil-Free

Sometimes, it's not your eyeglasses themselves that cause slipping, but your skin. If the excess oil on your skin is making your glasses slide, use cleansing wipes or oil blotting sheets throughout the day to remove buildup. Also, choose oil-free moisturizers and cosmetics, and don't forget to remove oil from the nose pads.
