Whether you use a gas or an electric stove, you may experience a problem with the appliance at some point. Frequent usage can cause any device to falter with time. Here are a few common issues that will require stove repair.

What Are the Most Common Stove Problems?

1. Slow Heating

If your gas burner isn’t heating at its usual pace, the problem may be due to buildup inside the burner. Although it may get hot, the flame has very little space to warm the pot or pan. Thoroughly scrub the grates and burner caps, then wash them with hot water. If you have an electric model, a maintenance professional will test each burner and determine whether stove repairs can resolve it, or if the coils need to be replaced.

2. Harsh Odor

3. No Light

If the operating knob is turned, but the stove won’t light, you may have a clogged burner porthole. Before calling a technician, try to resolve the issue by thoroughly cleaning the porthole. The problem may also stem from an extinguished pilot light. If this is the case, take the time to clean the opening and adjust the light slightly. If you use an electric igniter, confirm that the circuit breaker didn’t trip.
