Troubleshooting AC Remote Problems

1. No Power 

If your air conditioner is already turned on, the issue is likely with your remote. But double-check that the AC is on and responsive before turning to your remote. Make sure it is plugged in, and the buttons on the unit function properly to eliminate the air conditioner itself as the culprit.  

2. Too Far Away 

As AC remotes get older, their range can shorten. Make sure you are close enough for the remote to reach the unit. For most air conditioners, the remote should be within 20 feet, but consult the owner’s manual for your specific unit. Also, make sure there isn’t any furniture in the way, and your remote is pointed at the air conditioner. For example, if a bookcase is on the same wall as your cooling unit, you may have to move to stand in the AC’s direct line of sight. 

3. Old Batteries 

If the remote’s LED light is working, but the buttons still aren’t functioning, your batteries could be old. The AC remote is trying to execute the command, but the batteries aren’t strong enough to reach the unit. Change the batteries, making sure you line up the negative and positive ends per the diagram on the remote. Then, try again with the new batteries while standing close enough.
