Label the box with the word “fragile” on every side so that the moving company will handle it carefully. While you’re at it, note what’s inside it so that the unpacking process can be more organized when you get there. 

2. Use the Packing Supplies 

Get bubble wrap and packing paper to wrap the items. Note that neither newspaper nor soft cloths or blankets are suitable substitutes for packing paper. The former could leave ink or grime on your items, and the latter may slip off and leave your items vulnerable because it can’t be reliably secured. Once you have the bubble wrap and packing paper, make sure you also have strong packing tape. 

3. Leave Space 

As you set your fragile items in the box, insert some packing paper between them. If they’re not touching each other, then they’re less likely to crack each other. Be careful not to overpack or try too hard to make everything fit tightly together in one box. In fact, make sure there’s still about an inch of space left at the top of the box when you close it. If the moving company has to place another box on top of it, the top box won’t press against the fragile items in the bottom one, which could crack them.
