Just wanted to get a quick note out there about covering your backflow preventer due to the possible cold weather on Thursday night – see the picture!  This is the device on the outside of the house that your underground sprinkler system is connected to.  Due to the possible freeze on Thursday night = IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA to cover the backflow preventer, making sure that copper pipe going into the ground is covered with either a rug or a blanket.  This will keep it from freezing and possibly breaking the copper pipe.  It is supposed to be around 30 degrees but not for very long, so realistically it shouldn’t really cause an issue, but if you are concerned, cover it!  We at Whittemore Sprinkler Company are here for you with your underground sprinkler system winterizing needs.  So if you need your sprinkler system winterized so the pipes don’t break during the winter season, please call us at 402-476-8552.  If you are a customer of ours and we have winterized for you in the past, I probably already have you on my list, but call just to be sure.  We at Whittemore Sprinkler Company are just now getting started winterizing sprinkler systems and we promise we will get to you just as soon as we can.
