Teens live busy lives that are constantly changing. With so much going on in school and with their friends, it’s easy for religion to fall into the background. As a parent, you may want to encourage them in their faith journey and make them more receptive to church. Here are a few tips to help you do this.

How to Get Your Teen Involved With Worship

1. Lead by Example

Your child looks to you for guidance. If you’re not showing dedication to your faith, they may not understand its importance.

To set a great example, go to church regularly, pray daily and before meals, and study your Bible. Get involved with church-sponsored events, and make sure you’re available to help your teen with Bible study. This way, they’ll recognize how important your faith is to you and be more willing to reach out to God.

2. Encourage Them to Join Youth Groups

churchMeeting like-minded individuals is a great way to enjoy activities. Encourage your teen to join a youth group at your church. These are designed to teach Christian values while also giving back to the community. Teens will learn the Scripture in a fun, informal setting to make lasting bonds with new friends and their faith.

3. Provide Resources

A teenager can show resistance when you push them too much during conversations, so provide resources they can use on their own. Have a teen’s Bible for them to read and sign them up for newsletters about upcoming events at your church. Make sure they always have rides to youth events or Bible study.

It’s helpful to provide age-appropriate resources that may be more engaging to them than traditional texts. Many of these are available in Christian bookstores.
