While you may be able to do some swimming in your pool during autumn, it’s usually the time when most residents have to start thinking about closing up the amenity until spring. This process requires a few different steps to ensure it will stay in top shape through the dormant months. Here’s a guide to how you can take proper care of it in the fall.

4 Tips to Prepare Your Pool for Closure

1. Lower Water Level

As you approach your last weeks of pool use, start lowering the level of your pool. When it isn’t as high, it becomes much easier to close the cover over the surface. If you’re not sure how to manipulate the level, consider asking a maintenance technician.

2. Store Noodles, Balls, & Floaties

3. Remove Debris

Do a rigorous cleaning of the area. You don’t want leaves or other materials left to degrade into your water, as that will leave your liquid in unpleasant shape for the next season.

4. Test & Treat the Water

To avoid an unexpected algae bloom or other contamination, have a professional test your water for any problems. Failure to diagnose and treat them during the fall will give your pool months to transform into a mess.
