5 Tasty Filipino Fruits to Sample

1. Lanzones

Lanzones are juicy and refreshing and are used in a number of ways, including in iced juice drinks and fruit salads.

2. Soursop

Also known as guyabano, soursop has green, prickly skin. Its fleshy interior, which is creamy and tastes similar to a banana and coconut combination, is used in a variety of Filipino food dishes. The flesh provides seasoning in savory meals while the fruit’s leaves are used to tenderize meat.

3. Durian

Filipino foodDurian is most known for its distinct odor. The fruit is large, prickly, and green and has a pulpy flesh. The seeds are edible and are often incorporated into savory meals and ice cream flavors. When eaten raw, some have compared Durian’s taste to toasted almonds.

4. Chico

If you walk into a Filipino restaurant, you’re likely to find this decadent fruit in ice cream or sherbert. Chicos are packed with sweetness and have a malty-beer taste and aroma. Round and brown, the fruit is commonly found in salads with other native fruits. It is also enjoyed on its own after being freshly picked.

5. Rambutan
