Caring for your vehicle’s auto glass is a crucial responsibility. Your windows provide a clear and unobstructed view of the road while protecting you and your passengers from the elements. To keep your windows gleaming like new, follow the three tips below.

3 Auto Glass Care Tips

1. Keep Them Clean

Dirt and dust accumulate on your windshield and windows every time you drive. This buildup happens so gradually that you may not even notice it. Over time, this layer of dirt becomes so thick it starts to become hazy. Make it a point to clean your auto glass every couple of weeks. Use soapy water or a high-quality glass cleaner and a sponge or microfiber cloth. Squeegee the residual water away for a streak-free finish.

2. Repair Chips Immediately

Auto GlassAs frustrating as they are, chips from flying debris on the road are common. Though these chips may be small and won’t necessarily obstruct your vision, they can quickly spread and become a large, noticeable crack on your windshield. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to repair, as dirt and debris become lodged in the chipped area. Windshield wipers can push dirt into the crack and chemicals from your window washer fluid can cause the area to stain and discolor. Repairing a chip is an inexpensive process.

3. Repair Windshield Wiper Blades

Windshield wiper blades aren’t made to last. With time and frequent use, they begin to deteriorate. As the rubber wears away, they expose the metal strips that keep the rubber straight. If you flip on your windshield wipers at this point, the metal will rake across the glass, leaving scratches. Replace your wiper blades as soon as you notice loose rubber.
