Automotive window tint is an increasingly popular modification that protects your vehicle from UV rays and heat while increasing privacy. When you have a new tint installed, follow these care tips to ensure reliable adhesion and protection for years to come.

3 Ways to Maintain Newly Tinted Windows

1. Avoid Rolling Your Windows

Automotive window tint requires an average of two to four days to cure and adhere to your glass. To protect your new investment, avoid operating your windows until the tint has fully dried and cured. The agitation against the tint from window operation can cause tears, even if it was installed properly.

2. Don’t Stress About Temporary Imperfections

Automotive window tint cleaningFreshly installed tint often has minor imperfections that will disappear by the end of the film’s curing process. You might notice haziness and water because of excess moisture from the installation process. Automotive window tint is porous, so any trapped moisture will eventually evaporate in a matter of days.

3. Gently Clean After Curing

Don’t wash your car immediately after your tinting session. Once your automotive window tint cures, you can introduce light cleaning. Use a microfiber cloth to gently dust the inside of the windows.

Since window tint is applied on the inside of your glass, you only need to take care with the interior side. If you must use a cleaning solution to tackle sticky fingerprints and other stains, avoid all ammonia-based products since they’ll remove the tint.
