It’s a common myth that skin care is more important for women. However, men can benefit, as well, and building a daily regimen will improve your health and appearance. Plus, an effective men’s skin care routine will ensure your skin is clean and free of blemishes. Here’s how to get started.

A Guide to Skin Care for Men

1. Exfoliate

Scrub your skin three to four times each week to remove dead skin cells and debris in your pores. Exfoliating will keep you from developing acne and help you achieve an even skin tone. Also, use a face scrub before you shave.

The nose, forehead, and neck are where most dead skin develops. Rinse these areas with cool water to close your pores, and pat your face dry with a clean towel to avoid wrinkles.

2. Cleanse Daily

mens skin careDirt, debris, and oils will gather in your pores throughout the day, leading to breakouts and an uneven tone. Ideally, you should cleanse twice a day. A lot of grime collects on your pillowcases, so wash your face when you wake up, and do the same before going to bed. Always cleanse before exfoliating or moisturizing so that your men’s skin care products have a healthy foundation to work on.

3. Wear Sunscreen

Skin cancer is a serious health issue many men overlook. Wear an SPF 30 sunscreen any time you’re outside, including on cloudy, cold, and overcast days. You’ll protect against sunspots, sunburns, wrinkles, and other issues. Choose a sunscreen with a moisturizer to keep your skin from drying out, and drink at least eight glasses of water each day to keep your skin hydrated.
