Over time, the source of a residential water system can start to lose water volume. If you’ve noticed a loss of pressure or lack of access to quality liquids coming from your well, the problem could be due to sediment buildup along its fractures. In this case, hydrofracturing, also known as hydrofracking, will remove these blockages to allow groundwater to flow in. If you’re unfamiliar with this service, here’s more information about it to help you decide whether it’s right for you.

What Is the Purpose of Hydrofracking?

hydrofrackingA water well relies on fractures in the soil that allow water to flow from the surrounding bedrock and into the unit. Those fractures can sometimes get clogged or covered by the natural minerals in your water supply. Hydrofracking clears away that buildup to increase the flow into your well, letting the pump access the water it needs to supply your home reliably.

How Does Hydrofracking Work?

First, your contractor will remove pipes and pumps from within the shaft to keep them safe. They’ll then place inflatable packers inside of the water well to seal it off. Then, water is pumped through the packers at a high pressure rate. This forces the sediments in and around the fractures to disperse, which widens existing holes and may even create new ones. This allows water to flow freely from the surrounding underground supplies. Your contractor may repeat these steps in several sections of the well to open up various spots. Afterward, the water pressure in your home will increase, letting you enjoy more comfortable showers and a more efficient water well.
