These elite five only accept the very best of the best. To be considered, a child must score in the 97th percentile on the test. In practice, few if any under the 99th percentile have gotten in for several years.

Even the wonder kids who do score in that elusive 99th percentile have no guarantee of admission. In 2012, 1,600 kids scored in the 99th percentile for only 400 available seats.
