When it comes to auto maintenance, it’s important to check the fluids of your vehicle regularly. In the event of low levels or leaks, your vehicle’s mechanical components may become damaged, necessitating expensive auto repairs. Keep your car or truck in excellent shape by checking and changing the following fluids.

What Auto Fluids Should Be Checked Regularly?

1. Oil

Oil lubricates your engine so that the mechanical parts operate smoothly. When oil levels become low, your engine may seize, causing your vehicle to stall or break down. Change the oil every three months or 3,000 miles, or once it begins to look gritty or burnt. A dipstick can be used to look at the level and condition of the oil.

2. Transmission Fluid

Transmission fluid has a pinkish-red coloration and is responsible for helping your vehicle shift gears. Dirty fluid may result in rough shifting or surging, which puts you at an increased risk of collisions. Stay safe and avoid the need for auto repairs by changing the fluid every 60,000 or so miles.

3. Brake Fluid

Brake fluid prevents the metal components from rubbing up against one another and causing your vehicle to skid. You’ll find your brake fluid in a clear reservoir under the hood. Locate the minimum and maximum lines and add more fluid when necessary. Generally, brake fluid should be changed every two years.

Windshield washing fluid helps to remove dirt, debris, and grime on your auto glass. Promote your ability to see clearly on the roads by adding more windshield fluid regularly.
