MR. CORLETTA GETS CLIENT'S PISTOL PERMIT RESTORED BY TOUGH LAW ENFORCEMENT JUDGE

In People v. P.H. (Sup. Ct., 8/19), Mr. Corletta performed a double service for his client. Approximately one year prior, Mr. Corletta obtained an ACD for the client in a Petit Larceny case involving a theft of loose money (lying on the ground) from a local casino. Mr. Corletta demonstrated his client had no willful intent and had just found the money. Mr. Corletta obtained an ACD, meaning the client's record would be sealed after 6 months.

However, the Pistol Permit licensing authority in the client's home county, brought an action to revoke the client’s pistol permit based upon the arrest. Mr. Corletta also appeared in that matter, and again outlined the circumstances. His client was of modest means, working 2 jobs, and was normally law abiding.

Mr. Corletta convinced the Court to return the client’s Pistol Permit if the client did not get into trouble during the 6 month ACD period. The client's Pistol permit was restored without opposition. The Judges in both the Petit Larceny case and the Pistol Permit case were known for their tough pro-law enforcement stances.
