Learn to Recognize the Symptoms of Cancer During Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month

September 1st to September 30th

urology specialistGynecological cancer is more common than you may think. In fact, someone is diagnosed with one of these types of cancer every five minutes. About 110,070 new cases were diagnosed in the U.S. in 2018 alone. Awareness is essential when it comes to gynecological cancer because, out of five main types, only one has a screening test. While you can be tested for cervical cancer, you should learn to recognize the symptoms of ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, vaginal cancer, and vulvar cancer. Some signs to watch for include abnormal bleeding between periods or post-menopause, pelvic pain, and frequent urination.

Get Peace of Mind by Visiting a Urology Specialist

Come to Medical Center Urology during the month of September for a gynecological cancer examination. A urology specialist will help you get peace of mind knowing that you’re cancer-free. You can also help us spread the word about GCAM and encourage other women to get tested by using the hashtag #GCAM on social media.  Make an appointment by calling (336) 882-0220, or learn more about these urology specialists by visiting the website.
