Whether you wear glasses every day or only after you’ve run out of contact lenses, you deserve a pair that’s as stylish as they are functional. Unless you know which frames complement your face shape, though, and which colors flatter your skin tone, narrowing down the options can be challenging. Thankfully, the following information should help.

When Choosing a Shape

Generally speaking, glasses that mimic your face shape are less flattering, whereas those that are different are more so. For example, if you have a round face, round frames will only accentuate your curves and make it look wider. Rectangular frames, on the other hand, will lengthen your face and make your jawline look more angular. Likewise, if you have a heart-shaped face, you should look for geometric frames that have wider bottoms to counteract the narrowness of your chin.

When Choosing a Color

glassesSkin that has a warm tone—this includes olive, bronze, and golden complexions—looks best against accessories that have a hint of warmth, as well. As such, colors to consider for your glasses include browns, yellows, golds, and light tortoises. Skin that has a cool tone, on the other hand—or undertones of blue or pink—looks best sporting cool-colored accessories. Look for frames that are purple, gray, silver, blue, or dark tortoise.
