Broken and cracked windows cost you more in heating bills during the winter. And as any Rochesterian knows, Winter always ends up coming sooner than we would like. So, perhaps it’s time to fix that broken or cracked window you’ve been meaning to take care of.

Black’s Hardware, of course, has you covered in that department year-round. But we recommend bringing in your windows before the Winter rush so as to avoid a longer wait time. The last thing you want is an open window sill with a 22° wind blowing in during a December blizzard. And nothing causes more people to bring in their windows for a repair than a blizzard.

If the window is quite shattered and has several sharp edges, we recommend bringing in the window in a garbage bag so that broken shards of glass don’t end up in your car. Also, be sure to use work gloves when handling the frame.

We can repair windows with wood, metal, and fiberglass frames. And our workshop can make new metal and fiberglass framed works to exact measurements.

There are a few additional ways to lower the amount of energy wasted -- not to mention your heating bill -- via your windows this Winter. For example, make your windows more airtight through the use of weather stripping or foam tape. You can find both products at Black’s Hardware.

In addition to everything Window repair, Black’s Hardware stocks anything else you might need to prepare your home or building for the cold weather.
