Whether you’re coordinating a bachelorette party or planning a large group outing, riding in a party bus can be an exciting experience as you make your way to the destination. While you’re encouraged to have fun, there are some etiquette guidelines to follow.

Do:

Share your itinerary with the driver.

Constantly updating the driver on where to go can be dangerous and bothersome. Share an itinerary beforehand, and conveniently list the pickup, party, and drop-off locations in chronological order. Make sure they have contact information for several people in your group so that they can always reach someone as needed.

Ask what you can bring.

party busCall the rental company several days in advance, and ask them what they allow in the vehicle. If you’re bringing alcohol, make sure everyone has photo IDs available and is of legal drinking age. You should also ask what foods are allowed and if you can plug in a personal music device. If anyone in your party is disabled, inquire if service animals are allowed inside the bus. If you unknowingly bring restricted items, the driver may ask you to discard them before getting in the vehicle.

Don’t:

Forget the music.

Most party buses have sound systems so that passengers can jam to music on the road. To avoid commercial breaks and spotty Wi-Fi streaming, download a playlist onto your smartphone or tablet. Ask the rental company how you can hook up the device to the system and if there are any additional connector cables you need.

Leave a mess.

Leaving a mess is rude and may lead to fines. Many bus rental companies will ask for a security deposit in case someone in the party accidentally damages the interior. Eat and drink in the vehicle carefully, and have plastic bags on-hand so that you can clean up after the ride.
