When you file bankruptcy, all your creditors will get notice.  This is obvious, since they are notified by the Court not to henceforth try and collect the debt.  But who else?  Do newspapers publish the information?  The answer most usually is no.  Even though bankruptcy is a public record and the names may be reported to some credit reporting agencies, its not information that’s easily available, unless for example, someone on there own tries to look it up through the Court system.  Are your employers notified?  Not as a matter of course.  Someone would have to contact them if they needed to verify information.  It’s a rare case when this happens.  That’s why its a very good idea to be thorough with your paperwork when you file so you won’t have a problem in this regard.  Please feel free to call Attorney Mark O.
