Windows can say a lot about the condition of a house, and they're one of the first things prospective buyers will notice when viewing a property. Before putting your house on the market, check your windows for issues that could make the home harder to sell; two of these issues, which can easily be fixed by a window repair professional, are discussed in more detail below.

Common Window Problems to Repair Before Listing a House

1. Fog or Condensation

Condensation between the window panes is common in older homes. There is often a malfunction of the window’s seal, allowing moisture to settle. You may notice it’s worse on the side of the house that gets the most sun because the heat can damage the seal and fog will be more visible in the light.

Professional repairs will be needed for windows that are fogging over because of condensation getting into cracks in the glass or through gaps between the glass and the rest of the window. If the glass is older, it may be best to replace it with a newer, better insulated pane.

2. Cracked or Broken Glass

For many people, this might be a red flag, suggesting larger problems with the property or signaling a lack of care and upkeep—both of which could be turnoffs to buyers. The good news is that cracked or broken glass can often be remedied by a window repair professional—without needing to replace the entire window unit.
