Millions of miles of electrical lines power homes and businesses throughout the U.S. Millions of trees growing near those lines must be trimmed and managed by electric utilities to keep everyone safe and electric service on. 

Safe Electricity and JMEC want everyone to understand the dangers when trees grow too close to power lines: 

• Contact our vegetation management team at 505-367-1164 if you see trees growing too close to power lines. Do not trim those yourself. 
• Trees near power lines may look funny when properly pruned, but trained professionals use those techniques to ensure tree health and everyone’s safety. 
• When planning to landscape near power lines, consult a professional. Choose trees and shrubs that will not grow to interfere with electrical service.
