Engagement photography is a wonderful way to celebrate one of the most exciting times in your relationship. With that said, selecting the perfect photoshoot outfit is often easier said than done. To help you choose your perfect look for an unforgettable photo session, here are three tips.

3 Tips for Choosing Your Engagement Photography Outfit

1. Stay True to Your Personal Style

It’s best to wear things for a photo shoot where you feel good about yourself. If you feel confident, it will carry through in the images. Find the right fit regarding your personal style. If looking glamorous is your thing, a modern and sleek look would be the order of the day. A person with a more casual vibe would be happier in jeans and a favorite sweater. Too baggy or too tight clothing can hamper the experience. Make sure your clothing fits your body and be rest assured that we can find the right angles to flatter your shape. Make sure that your outfits go together. I’m not suggesting matching sweater sets, but matching the mood of each other’s style can elevate the overall experience. If one of you is in a ball gown and the other is in cargo shorts, that can pose some challenges. I recommend having a variety of options to choose from that best fit your aesthetic and don’t forget to bring a hairbrush. Changing clothes can mess up any carefully crafted do.

2. Consider Your Surroundings

As your wedding dress and venue should be instrumental in determining the style of the event, your engagement photo session location should influence what you choose to wear. Think about providing contrast to creating a striking and well balanced image. For instance, if you’re taking photos next to a lake during the sunset, it’s best not to wear red, orange, or yellow colors, as you will blend into the scenery. Similarly, If you’re in a heavily wooded area, you may want to avoid earth tones in favor of something more colorful and contrasting. Think about how you can incorporate fun seasonal details into your shoot as well.

3. Carefully Select Footwear

Choose the shoe that suits you best and also suits the environment in which you are being photographed. Be on the same page as your partner so that you can create a balanced look. I strongly suggest no heels on the beach. Sand is not a friend to Manolo Blahniks.
