When someone is surprised with flowers, they may want to preserve that beauty for as long as possible. There is no need to toss out flower bouquets after a week. Instead, try any of the projects below to enjoy their natural beauty—and the gesture of the gift—for much longer.

3 Ideas to Craft With Flower Bouquets

1. Pressed Petals

Pressing flowers is easy, and this method preserves the color of the blooms. Cut the stems short, then place the flowers within a folded sheet of clean paper. Place this inside a book, then weigh down the book with a few more books or bricks. Leave it for two to three weeks, opening it every few days to blot out any moisture. Use tweezers to remove them. You can then apply them to cards, bookmarks, and candles. If you want to display your flowers, secure them between two pages of wax paper and frame it.

2. Hanging Stems

floristHang your flowers upside down by securing the bottom of the stems to a hanger with dental floss or ribbon. Leave them in a dark and dry area for three weeks until they’re dry. Then, hang them around the house for touches of color, or hang them underneath a piece of driftwood for a gorgeous piece of wall art.

3. Bath Salts

Once you’re done enjoying your flower bouquets, pluck the petals you want off the stems. Mix them with Epsom salts and powdered milk, and add rose essential oil if you want an extra floral scent. Placed in a jar, these make a wonderful gift or a fun way to treat yourself with a soak.
