Outdoor dog kennels provide a comfortable and secure place for pups to relax and enjoy some fresh air. However, it’s not enough to just set up the structure. Incorporate the following elements to dramatically improve your dog’s quality of life while they spend time outdoors.

3 Tips to Make an Outdoor Dog Kennel Cozy

1. Secure the Fence

If your dog is going to be in the kennel unsupervised, you need a fence to keep them inside. Dogs can jump or climb over short fences, and some can even dig below ground-level fences to escape, in which case they might get lost or wander into traffic. To prevent issues, install tall fencing deep beneath the ground.

2. Add Overhead Protection

Make sure the material is securely attached to the fencing around the perimeter so it stays in place even in high winds and rainy conditions.

3. Include Some of Their Favorites

On the inside of the kennel, make your dog comfortable with bedding, blankets, and favorite toys. Additionally, include a large water bowl that won’t get knocked over by wind or a rambunctious pup. It should hold a large amount of water and be attached to the ground or the side of the kennel.
