The glasses you wear every day make a statement about your style just as much as your clothes do. When it’s time for a new pair, you want to ensure you feel confident about your frames. Whether this is your first pair or you’re looking to try a different style, check out the guide below on tips for choosing the best eyeglasses for your face shape.

Round

Round faces have a similar width and height and don’t have particularly strong cheekbones. The general rule is to buy glasses that contrast with your facial features. In this case, you want an angular frame and to avoid round eyeglasses. Rectangular and cat-eye frames will balance your soft features and lengthen your face.

Square

Conversely, individuals with a square face have more angular or square jaw lines and a wider forehead. Buy round or oval eyeglasses. Additionally, the upper rim of the frames should be darker and the lower rim lighter to help lengthen the appearance of the face.

Triangle

glassesIf you have an inverted triangle shape, you are widest at the forehead with narrower cheekbones and an even narrower chin. Aim to make the top of your face look narrower. Glasses that will complement your face are wider towards the bottom and lighter in color. A rimless frame will be the most flattering.

Heart

If you have a heart-shaped face, it’s wider at the forehead, narrower towards the chin, and complete with high cheekbones. It’s similar to a triangle except you have a window’s peak. Stay away from large frames or ones that are heavier on the bottom. Instead, you want to draw attention to the top of your face. Rimless or wayfarer-style glasses will flatter and complement you best.

Oval

An oval face means your features are naturally balanced all around. With higher cheekbones and even proportions, it’s easy to find glasses in a variety of styles. Instead of worrying about shape, simply pick the pair that stands out the most to you. Choose bold colors, oversized, or chunky frames—anything you like!
