Antique clocks are fine feats of engineering. Just because they've been surpassed by digital clocks doesn't mean they have to stay out of the business of keeping time. If your vintage wall clock, grandfather clock or cuckoo clock needs repair, the Tic-Toc Shop is here to help. Based in Mason, OH, and serving all of Greater Cincinnati, the experts at Tic-Toc Shop have over 50 years of experience troubleshooting and restoring clocks of all types.

Whether it's been passed down from relatives or discovered in a curiosity shop, a grandfather clock is a treasure to have. The professionals at the Tic-Toc Shop can help if you find yourself dealing with any of the following common grandfather clock issues:

  • The Pendulum Stops Swinging: First, make sure the clock is level. Next, check the weights of the pendulum. If they've reached the bottom, your grandfather clock needs to be wound. Use the crank, if one is available; otherwise, pull the chains down slowly to raise the weights. You should also make the clock's hands aren’t touching each other, and that each “tick tock” of your clock is evenly spaced.
  • The Chiming Stops: If your chimes have stopped working, it’s possible that the music hammers have been jammed. Give Tic-Toc Shop a call and an expert can come reset them for you, as these parts most likely require cleaning and lubrication. Once the issue has been fixed, it's good practice to get your clock professionally cleaned and re-oiled every five years.
  • The Chimes Sound at The Wrong Time: Chimes that sound at the wrong hour require the movement of the hour hand in sync with the chime, and then moving the minute hand until the time is correct. One of the professionals at Tic-Toc Shop would be happy to finesse the clock hands for you.
