Well, here we are once again suffering through another tragic and senseless series of mass shooting attacks in the United States. Innocent citizens massacred for no reason while simply going about their peaceful daily routine. Good and promising lives have been brutally ended. Families are torn apart by unbearable grief. Communities are forever impacted by events no one ever wanted. Politicians make bold statements, point fingers of blame and take stands for a variety of solutions. News media takes full advantage to grab their share of the sensationalism rating contest, and the fabric of our freedom-loving open society America who suffers yet another gaping tear.

The overwhelming sentiment from all corners of our country screams once again for something to be done to stop these endless and devastating attacks. The word we are looking for is ACTION. Someone or something needs to ACT to change this pattern we find ourselves in. In the bigger picture, our leaders need to come together and collectively devise a plan or series of steps that will be effective in stopping these senseless acts of random mass murder and carnage.

Merriam Webster defines the word “ACT” as “take action; do something, take steps, react, proceed or behave in a specified manner”.

We at Command Solutions find this particular definition to be most appropriate in our specific training field. We provide training to groups, companies, and organizations to help them plan for, respond to, and recover from and “Active Shooter” and other life-threatening situations. We emphasize the word ACT as an acronym for the phrase “Actions Change Things” We find this phrase from Larry Winget, a professional motivational speaker, bestselling author, television personality and social commentator to be highly effective in our training programs.

As veteran emergency responders, planners, and educators we encourage everyone reading this to ACT immediately. Act now to take the training and learn what you can do to help yourself, your family, your co-workers survive any type of life-threatening emergency or situation. Nothing changes without your actions. Learn how to be a survivor. Act now.
