A couple’s wedding is one of the happiest days of their lives, but to get there, they must first decide who to invite. It’s more than throwing everyone you know on a list. Before you can start, you must look at finances, a venue, the style, the theme, and equipment rentals. Follow the tips below before finalizing your guest list.

3 Wedding Guest List Tips

1. Consider the Budget

The wedding budget is a controlling factor for all aspects of the wedding. Every person on the list is an expense. They require dinner, possible transportation costs, and entertainment. The sum will determine the feasibility of the location, the size of the venue required, and the price of your wedding entertainment. Once your first draft is written, divide the number of guests by the budget to determine the maximum expense per guest. Base all financial decisions on a per guest quotient. If the venue costs $5,000, and your initial list contains 100 guests, then the cost of the event is $50 per person.

2. Be Judicious

Equipment rentalsIt might be difficult to narrow down your list. You can first eliminate based on who you value most in your life. Co-workers and your boss are not automatic invites. If you spend time outside of work with them, then they might be a consideration. Immediate family and close friends should be considered first, and then second cousins and beyond. Because there are different family dynamics in play, one person may invite all of their cousins, while their partner may invite none. Usually, the guest list can balance itself out due to this.

The number of children may be a consideration due to a lack of supervision, additional dietary needs, and extra equipment rentals. You should also consider if you will allow plus-ones. If you have room in your budget, allow a few close family members to bring a date. However, you don’t want to fill your wedding venue with people you don’t know.

3. Factor the Space for Equipment

Equipment rentals are extremely important for the success of any event. You have to consider materials, such as tables, chairs, tents, or a portable dance floor. A longer guest list means less space and more equipment necessary, especially if it is an outdoor wedding. Your space will determine whether you select long, rectangular tables, or multiple small round ones. Measure the dimensions of your space and figure out how many guests will fit with the amount of equipment purchased.
