1. Graham Creek Nature Preserve

This nature preserve boasts almost 500 acres of pine savannas, mixed forests, wetlands, and tidal marshes. Try your hand at canoeing and paddling on Wolf Bay, or test your accuracy on their three 18-basket disc golf courses. Other activities include hiking, an interpretive center, mountain biking, and a public archery park.

2. Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge

It is a popular location for bird-watching and hiking. The Jeff Friend Trail features a lovely boardwalk through the untouched habitat to view the threatened and endangered bird species that call the refuge home.

3. Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail

The Backcountry Trail features more than 15 miles through seven trails, which run through Orange Beach, Gulf Shores, and the Gulf State Park. Visitors enjoy views such as freshwater marshes, bayous, and coastal hardwood swamps. Enjoy spotting white-tailed deer and alligators. You may even get a glimpse of a bobcat. Those looking for a break from walking can enjoy the butterfly garden, boulder park, or geocaching.
