A quality cowboy hat must look the part while also being resistant to weather and general wear and tear. In the 1920s, two enterprising young men joined forces to create Resistol® hats, which were quickly embraced by cowboys thanks to their innovative design and high-quality materials. If you’re in the market for a cowboy hat that is as rugged as it is stylish, the Resistol brand has much to offer.

They’ve Built Their Name on Quality

One of the many unique facets of this brand is how they create their hats. They have a hand in the entire hat-making process, which ensures quality production at every step of the way. It takes a staggering 200 separate processes to construct a hat, from fur cutting to felt finishing. As an example of their commitment to quality, they use fur fibers as opposed to using the actual skin of the animal. A hat-maker spins these fibers before being molded into the proper form. This process can take months to complete, but the quality in the finished product is undeniable.

The Anatomy of a Resistol Cowboy Hat

There are many components to cowboy hats. One example is eyelets, which are tiny holes on either side of the hat that allow air infiltration. The hats also have an internal sweatband made from cotton or leather, as well as an external self-felt band. The inner lining features full-coverage silk complete with beautifully embroidered artwork.

How to Find the Best Fit

These hats are available in three oval fits, including regular, long, and wide. Sizing is crucial to ensure you enjoy the perfect fit with your new hat. The size is determined by taking a fabric tape measure and wrapping it around the area where a hat would sit naturally, which is usually ¾ inches about the ears. Once you have the right measurement, you can compare it to the Resistol size chart, which ranges from XS to XXXL.
