We take many calls from folks who say “I just need a simple Will”, “I want to deed my property to my children”, “I need a Trust”, “I need a Power of Attorney”, “…how much will it cost”, etc.  The fact is we all have very real needs, but when it comes to selecting and drafting a legal instrument and a plan you need to consult with a very good and experienced lawyer, initially probably for 45 – 60 minutes for most clients, to decide on how to proceed.  The initial conversation deals with your assets and financial picture, your family and intended beneficiaries, everyone’s health situation, your needs, and their needs, how your assets are titled and what could be done there to streamline the asset succession process.   Your goals, viable alternatives, etc.  Many times after that you go home and think choices over before making important decisions.  The next step is the drafting, then the review of the drafts by you in a comfortable environment.  Then another meeting, and review and execution of the documents.  So you would meet with a very good lawyer at least twice, and likely three times, to make sure you are getting the right plans and services in place.  Frequently what a caller initially says they need is not what they need, and/or what they only need.

So it takes discussion, time and effort to do the job appropriately; a shortcut just doesn’t usually serve you well.  So if it gets drawn up off a phone call only, or a 15-minute conversation, you very likely need something better, more comprehensive, and more tailored to your particular needs.  We’ve been in the field of practice successfully for over 42 years!  We’d love to have you come to see us for legal services.
